Abstract
This study was carried out to find out the mercury level in blood of agricultural residents who had not been exposed to mercury by occupational, theraputic or another routes.
The whole blood of 101 adults was sampled and digested by the H3SO4-KMnO4,open digestion method, and the total mercury analyzed by the cold atomic absorption spectrophotometry.
The results are as follows.
1. The mean of blood mercury level was llng/ml, the standard deviation 23ng/ml, maximum concentration 149ng/ml, and 95th percentile of frequency 42ng/ml respectively. These values seem to be not different significantly from the other data of foreigners.
2. The blood mercury level was not related to the sex, age, occupation and residence time in the agricultural area.
